CURRICULUM
Known as B-Boying (Breakdancers) is a unique form of dance evolved from the street Hip Hop movement in the South Bronx of NYC in the 70s. Our classes continue the tradition of street style movements in a safe, controlled environment. We focus our classes on four core training aspects of breakdance.
Toprocks – a major element of breakdance. It generally refers to foot movement performed from a standing position, relying upon a mixture of coordination, flexibility, rhythm, and most importantly, style.
Footwork – also know as Downrock, is your floor foot movement, incorporating moving your hands and feet together into your dance work.
Freezes – a technique that involves halting all body motion, often in an interesting or balance-intensive position. It is implied that the position is hit and held from motion as if freezing in motion. Balance and timing are the names of this game.
Power Moves – are usually the most acrobatic and visually impressive part of a b-boy/b-girls routine. Power moves are explosive body movements that generally use spinning and repetition.
Once you have learned to combine the four fundamental components of breakdance you will be able to create new skills and combos, creating your own style of movement.
